These workshops provide participants with the skills to help a person in crisis by referring them to the appropriate services, and support community members by increasing their confidence in their ability to help others, as well as recognizing triggers and thought patterns in themselves. In our workshops, there is a great deal of hope – healing is possible for everyone at any life stage.
The Reach Out training and its pedagogical concepts is deeply rooted in Inuit ways of knowing and living. It is empowering for Nunavut communities to know that the training is and was created by Nunavummiut for Nunavummiut.
The Embrace Life Council has helped me gain confidence and encouraged me to help out my friends and community whenever they needed it. They have taught me a lot of things, and I’m grateful for that.
