Today is World Suicide Prevention Day Organizations around the world help raise awareness

The Canadian Association for Suicide Prevention is partnering with the Mental Health Commission of Canada to promote World Suicide Prevention Day on September 10.

This year’s theme "Stigma: A Major Barrier for Suicide Prevention” underlines the importance of changing prejudicial attitudes and eradicating the stigma associated with mental illness.

A significant number of those with mental illnesses who die by suicide do not contact health or social services for help.

You can find valuable resources on how to hold life saving conversations, where to get help, recognizing the signs of suicide and much more on suicideprevention.ca and on the Mental Health Commission of Canada website.

You can also learn about stigma, mental illness and suicide prevention on the International Assocation for Suicide Prevention web resource directory.
