Bell Let’s Talk supports development of anti-bullying app

Montreal , Wednesday, October 5, 2016

With support from Bell Let’s Talk, the Fondation de l’Institut universitaire en santé mentale de Montréal (IUSMM) and Université de Montréal have launched +Fort, a mobile app that provides support to victims of bullying.

Developed by Professor Isabelle Ouellet-Morin and a team of researchers, the interactive app helps youth better understand bullying experiences so they can choose the best strategy for responding to and ending the intimidation.

+Fort also includes video clips featuring young Québec celebrities and a discussion forum where victims of bullying can share their stories and support each other. A companion website provides access to additional resources, including a guide for parents.

The app can be downloaded today from the Apple App Store and will be available for Android devices in spring 2017. An English-language version is also being developed.

Bell Let’s Talk helped raise funds for the IUSMM at this year’s Bal des lumières in Montréal and donated $1 million to the Institut in 2013 to help create a mental health info bank to support treatment and research.
