Rideau Hall transformed for the Masquerade for Mental Health
Ottawa , Monday, October 2, 2017
Her Excellency Sharon Johnston invited Canadians to ‘take off their mask’ and combat the stigma related to mental illness during the Masquerade for Mental Health on Saturday, September 9, at Rideau Hall. During this unique event, made possible with the support of Bell Let’s Talk, the grounds of Rideau Hall were transformed into a lively fair.
A key feature of this event was a community zone, a space where guests engaged with more than 40 mental health partners from across the country in an interactive and informal way, to discuss key issues and to share innovative practices and prevention strategies.
To close the evening, Canadian performers, such as Bell Let’s Talk ambassador and singer Séan McCann and spokesperson Étienne Boulay took to the stage. During the evening, guests were invited to take off their masks as a symbol of acceptance and solidarity. Because no one should feel the need to wear a mask.
